El niño autista. A la búsqueda de espacios interactivos. Segunda parte. (Pilar Vilagut Macia).

Abstract:

This is the second part of the work based on the experiences of the author with autistic infants in an educational and therapeutic centre. It demonstrates how to create new interactive spaces (a sense of “being with”, Stern, D. 1985) through playing experiences. Thus, the children begin to absorb shared experiences which promote the birth of an “emergent self” (Stern, D. 1985). Knowing where these feelings come from and identify them in each different game has a calming effect and offers them a more meaningful and emotional experience. We can see that this is a slow and lengthy process and that the professional’s empathy, perseverance and confidence are fundamental tools in the development of these infants.

English Title: The autistic child. In search of interactive spaces “being with” in an educational and therapeutic setting (Part 2).
